Wrapped or Unwrapped: Travelling with gifts

It's the holiday season, and like the wise men of long ago many people are travelling with gifts.  Be it to Grandma's house, a beach, or a ski resort a relevant question, if you are flying, is whether to pack and travel with your gifts wrapped or unwrapped.

Remember your bags are screened - both checked and carry-on baggage.  If there is any question about the contents of your checked baggage it will be opened and possibly the gifts will be unwrapped.  Everything will be put back in your suitcase and a note will be left in your suitcase saying that it was inspected.  With carry-on bags, you will be left to repack all the items taken out of the bag.  Not too hard a task, but who needs this additional stress along with getting to the airport, on the plane, and to your destination, especially in this busy season.

Bottom line, your gifts could be unwrapped and opened.  Who wants the hassle of re-wrapping or carrying open gifts in their luggage?

Tip:  To avoid the frustration of having to re-wrap your gifts pack them unwrapped.  Take wrapping paper or gift bags, tape, ribbon, bows, whatever you want with you.  Wrap the gifts at your destination.  It will be worth it.
