Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (The Guggenheim Museum)  The current Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, was opened in 1959.  The design of the building itself is noteworthy, being a cylindrical shape and wider at the top than the bottom.  The museum houses many pieces of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern and contemporary art, as well as special exhibitions.
